MADRID (Reuters) – Police investigating a burglary in southeast Spain came up with more than just fingerprints to
help identify the culprit — they found one of his fingers.

The man accidentally severed a finger while trying to steal carpentry equiqment from an industrial complex in the city
of Alicante last week, El Mundo newspaper reported Wednesday.

Unable to staunch the bleeding, he went to the city’s hospital. Hospital officials tipped off police, who had kept the
missing finger as evidence, and the man was arrested.
