Carrie: Your question
that you say has not been answered. I’ll respond, since you did ask me. But, bear in mind, you’re addressing this question to “anti-gunners.” I am NOT an anti-gunner so my “answer” could well be quite different than those of “real” anti-gunners. You want to know how more gun laws and restrictions will keep guns out of the hands of criminals. I WANT TO KNOW THAT AS WELL. Will NEW laws be more effective than old and unenforced laws? I doubt it. But will they do any harm to the law-abiding gun owners? No, I don’t believe they will. I support child access prevention laws. I think that’s “reasonable.” The “heat” is already on in the enforcement area — states that have thus far been lax in prosecuting or in failure to prosecute are starting to step up. That’s (I believe) because of the pressure currently on their laps to conform to what the majority (appears) to want regarding gun laws. I do not necessarily support licensing and registration, but I don’t support it for my car either, any more than I support mandatory insurance. And no, I don’t think new laws will totally prevent criminals from gaining access to guns, but I do believe it “could” make it more difficult and I do not see anything wrong with that concept. I know I will be assailed (or ignored) for my “answer.” Doesn’t matter. You posed a question; I answered as best I could from my personal perspective.
