Schaumburg police are investigating the incident, which took place on
Song Sparrow Court.
Je Taun Y. Walters was found in a vehicle after police fielded two
aborted 911 calls from the victim.
Schaumburg police said when the 911 dispatcher finally made contact, she
reached a woman who was not able to make her emergency clear. A second
female subject told the dispatcher that her cousin was in a car in the
Walden apartment complex and was seriously injured, police said.
Officers responding to the call said they found a woman inside a vehicle
on Song Sparrow Court. They added that there was a significant amount of
blood in the car and on the victim, and it was apparent that she had
been attacked.
Walters was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights,
where she was pronounced dead at 5:34 p.m.
Schaumburg police said a second victim, a girl, sustained minor injuries
to her hand. Police said the second victim is a family member of the
deceased, but it was not known Saturday night if her injury was related
to the attack on the deceased.
Police did not release the type of weapon used in the attack.
The homicide is under investigation by the Schaumburg Police Department.
