While even taking out a weapon in front of a civilian is generally a “no-no!”
in the regulations for most police departments — perhaps it is well past
time to rethink this position.

Personally, I’d have rather had him do it as a “show & tell” item —
depending on the age group he was addressing — and WHAT THE PRIMARY
REASON/CLASS he was there for. If it was a “study hall” — no problem; if
they were to be learning math — that’s another story. If it was a “math” or
other class — shame on him! If not, it may not have been in good taste —
given the current political climate of such things — but it certainly
couldn’t have “hurt” anything.

The AMERICAN PUBLIC is by far and away – I have always believed — comprised
of mostly “GOOD PEOPLE” — who (through no fault of their own) just aren’t
very “bright.” They aren’t very “bright” because the Socialist Liberal
Media, the Socialist Party (Democratic Party) and “feel-good/do-gooders” are
always clouding, masking and covering up the real points and issues that
plague America.

I agree with them on point (only): I too, think that it would be a most
wonderful world if no one ever had to own or use a firearm.

But that’s where it ENDS!

Because there will ALWAYS BE PEOPLE who want to take what YOU HAVE for
THEMSELVES – whether it is your possessions or your wife; BECAUSE there will
ALWAYS BE PEOPLE who want to be ‘THE LEADER” – despite what everyone else
wants; because there will ALWAYS BE PEOPLE who get a sick, twisted, pleasure
out of hurting other people, raping other people, stealing from other people,
wanting to subjugate other people and just plain kill other people for their
sick, twisted, perverted pleasure of watching them die: there will always be
a need for human self-defense!

That is precisely why, in all their infinite wisdom, out Founding Fathers
left us the 2nd Amendment: an heirloom to be cherished and preserved and
passed down to future generations. So that the MANY will NEVER have to
knuckle-under to the FEW and be such as cattle awaiting the slaughter of the
innocents. (Does 1939-1945 bring up any memories?)

As a veteran police officer (25+ years in the business) and a former
“training officer,” I could never condone what this officer did, and if he
gets off with just a minor suspension and letter of reprimand in his file he
will be lucky. However, we are missing the greater issue here, that this
topic bring up: KIDS & FIREARMS! (Or reread this as: OUR FUTURE & FIREARMS!)

Children are most curious creatures; they are curious about everything and
want to know and learn about everything. You don’t have to instill that it
them — it comes built-in from the ‘factory’ — they are all like that.
That’s a good thing — that’s the only way civilization has advanced over the
last 6,000 years.

Where you (we) get into trouble with this natural curiosity is when you tell
them that they can’t do something and don’t explain (fully) WHY they can’t do
it. There is an old story about a woman who left her son at home, alone for
the first time one night, while she and dad went out to a party. He was too
old for a baby-sitter, so Mom told him to behave himself, left him the
telephone number were they would be, and told him be good. The boy asked
constantly what he could and could not do. The mother just told him: you
know what we expect of you, and left it at that. Dad was amused by the
questions and so to give the boy a “rule” not to break (as the boy was
wanting some) told him, “Son, what ever you do tonight while we are gone —
do not put beans in your ears!”

Never in a million years would have the young man thought to have done that,
but -YES- when the parents returned the young man had beans stuck in both
ears and couldn’t get them out!

Point? You tell a kid they can’t do something and they will — even if it
would NEVER CROSS THEIR MIND TO DO IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!

All this crap about telling kids to keep away from “guns” to report people
with “guns” not to carry “guns” and not to point “guns” at anyone or even to
not “touch” guns – only fuels the fire of the young, imaginative minds – so
that you ca be assured that the kids will at every opportunity do what they
are told not to do!

On the other hand – parents who show their children how to safely handle
firearms, take the children out to shoot them safely, teach them how to clean
them safely; IN OTHER WORDS: THE PARENTS WHO TAKE THE MYSTERY OUT OF FIREARMS
(like the officer in this story did) HAVE BROUGHT UP CHILDREN WHO WONT
‘EXPERIMENT’ OR ‘PLAY’ OR ‘TEST’ OR WHATEVER – with firearms, because they
know the TRUTH ABOUT FIREARMS!

It’s almost laughable: we teach kids in schools all about SAFE-SEX: how NOT
TO DIE FROM AIDS – how NOT TO CREATE AND UNWANTED HUMAN BEING; but what do we
teach them about HOW NOT TO DIE FROM A FIREARM or have a FIREARM ACCIDENT IN
WHICH SOMEONE ELSE DIES? Nothing at all.

We teach ‘em to “buckle up” but not how to “unload and place it on
safety”………..

The anti-gunners are the ones killing our kids in firearms mishaps and school
shootings — coupled with all the “anti-gunners in Hollywierd(wood)” that
can’t seem to make a motion picture without telling/showing our kids how to
kill other persons more efficiently! (And THEY want guns banned — yeach —
so only they can have them to make movies “exciting”).

It’s a sad day in America, when Hollywood cannot make a movie “exciting” to
the audience without someone having to die by gunfire!
