Under a new policy, city employees in Las
Vegas, Nev., can carry guns at work, the Las
Vegas Review Journal reported Jan. 15.

The new policy conforms to a state law that
allows any public employee who has a
concealed-weapons permit to carry a firearm at
work.

The change in policy for Las Vegas comes two
months after Mayor Oscar Goodman called for a
ban on all firearms at City Hall.

“We’re making sure we stay in compliance with
the state law and also updating our policy to
make sure that it’s fair and follows the statutes
clearly,” said Assistant City Manager Betsy
Fretwell.
