This is a great story about how the cops and courts can’t protect you, but having a self defense weapon and knowing how to use it CAN!
YOUR safety , YOUR responsibility!

Intruder gunned down
By Kevin Liles
MOULTRIE – Domestic violence strikes again – on Valentine’s Day.
A Moultrie man was shot in the back about 9 a.m. Thursday after he
allegedly broke into a mobile home on Old Albany Road and assaulted
his
ex-girlfriend, Colquitt County authorities said.
Bruce Singletary, 25, 3752 Old Dunn Road, was still in the emergency
room at John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville Thursday
afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
He allegedly broke into the home of April Ricks, 20, shortly after
calling Thursday to wish her a happy Valentine’s Day, sheriff’s
reports
said.
Reports said Singletary ripped the phone cord out of its receptacle on
the outside of the home before breaking in through a window leading to
the living room.
He was greeted by Roger Lott Jr., 23, when he entered, reports said.
Investigator Donald Davis said a fight between the two ensued.
Lott is an acquaintance of Ricks, Davis said.
Next, reports said, he went into the bedroom where Ricks was and
grabbed
her by the hair, telling her that she was going to leave with him. He
then went back into the living room where he struggled with Lott once
more, reports said.
Lott shot him once in the upper portion of the back with .40 caliber
pistol when he tried to go back into the bedroom for a second time,
Davis said.
Aggravated assault and burglary charges are pending against Singletary
upon his hospital release, Davis said, and there are currently no
charges being brought against Lott.
“He was acting in defense for himself and of Ms. Ricks,” he said. Two
witnesses, Justin Allen and Amanda Ross, were not injured in the
shooting.
“This has been an ongoing domestic dispute between Singletary and
Ricks,” Davis said.
“He’s been told to stay away from her on previous charges.”
Singletary was charged in December 2001 with stalking and kidnapping
in
an incident involving Ricks.
Davis said as part of his bond stipulation, he was to stay away from
Ricks and not to make any contact with her.
“From talking with witnesses, he has been calling her a lot lately,”
Davis said. “He called her 10 times (Wednesday).”
Singletary was also charged for stalking in 1995, a jail spokesperson
said.
This is the fifth shooting involving domestic violence in the past
three
months for the Moultrie-Colquitt County area.
Only this time, the alleged aggressor was shot.
