I heard something last night that really amused me. I was talking to a buddy with the San Antonio Park Police and he mentioned that they had taken a lock-bladed knife away from some jackass because there was a city ordinance against it. I never let the law stop me from taking knives away from scumbags when I was a cop, but I was surprised that it was a formal local no-no. When I asked about it I couldn’t help laughing at him:

“You mean I can’t carry my lock-blade “Tanto” knife?”

He said “Well, you’re not really supposed to!”

So I added: “…but my licensed cocked and locked custom Colt Government Model and two spare magazines full of 230 grain .45acp hollow-points are ok to pack in my inside the waistband holster, huh?”

“Oh, come on! No one carries around that big of a gun!”

I just looked at him and kind of smiled. He kind of hesitated and went on:

“…well, no one but you, that is!”
