Man dead after attempted armed robbery, police say Savannah Morning News
An adult man was killed Tuesday night at a westside business.
Police, who were investigating the shooting as an attempted robbery,
believe the store’s clerk shot the man, a department spokesman said.
The clerk was not hurt, police said.
Officers arrived at Joe’s Package Shop at the 2500 block of West Bay
Street around 9 p.m. after reports of gunshots being fired.
They found the victim, and suspected robber, critically injured on the
curb just outside the business, the spokesman said.
The man died at the scene.
Police would not say whether the man was armed, only that he was shot
inside the store.
There may have been other people in the shop at the time, police said.
Detectives were interviewing several other people in connection with the
attempted robbery Tuesday night.
As of 11 p.m., no arrests were made in connection with the shooting or
the attempted robbery.
