A 23-year-old Charlottesville man was fatally shot after a standoff at a
busy highway intersection there late Friday, authorities said yesterday.

Lorenzo Haden was killed at Route 29 and Hydraulic Road by a 22-year-old
man who police said was reacting in self-defense because Haden had
pulled a gun on him.
Police declined to identify the shooter.
