“Freedom is not free” T. Jefferson
Premier of Saskatchewan August 28, 2002
Lorne Calvert
Legislative Building
Regina, Sask., Canada
S4S OB3
Dear Premier Calvert:
Thank you for your letter of July 29, 2002 in which you forwarded a copy of my email
correspondence dated July 17, 2002 to the Honourble Chris Axworthy, QC., for his review and
responce.
I received a responce yesterday from Mr. Axworthy’s office written by Mr. Doug Moen the Acting
Deputy Minister of Justice and Acting Deputy Attorney General which is dated August 8, 2002. This
means was used to answer my initial question to you.
Mr. Moen stated in reference to the Candain Firearms Act of 1995, “I can assure you, my government
has not changed its position on this legislation. We regard it as inapprppriate and will not use
provincial resources to support it in any way, other than to meet our legal obligations with
respect to enforcement and prosecution of the Criminal Code.”
Premier Calvert, this law is an illegal act. Part of this legislation has already been declared
illegal by an Ontario Appeals Court. I find it revolting and inhumane that you and your
government can sit idly on the side lines and watch law-abiding Saskatchewan Residents being
victimized by an elected tyrant and his deciples in charge of the federal government.
Premier Calvert, I will give you real reasons why you should get off that fence unfold your arms
and provide substanial judicial assistance to your law-abiding constituents before they are
arrested and hauled off to prison for “paper crime”. Please use the courts and jails for real
criminals. Allow the law-abiding to work prosper and pay taxes. GET IT?
The Chretien Gun Law as I like to call the Firearms Act violates our rights and freedoms. If you
are not going to support the legal rights of Sask. Residents then you sir, in your political
capacity, are an accomplice with the federal tyrant. You are allowing these human rights
violations and illegal acts to continue. I am in fear on my own governments both federal and
provincial. You sir, and Chretien are both tyrants administering tyranny in Canada through the
Chretien Gun Law.
Allow me to mention some of the rights and freedoms which you are helping to remove from our
liberties.
1. The Chretien Gun Law violates fundamental property rights protection guananteed in the Canadian
Bill of Rights of 1960. A basic premise of freedom is that one has the right to purchase,
possess, own, use and dispose of their property.
2. You are violating my Charter Rights and Freedoms of 1982 which include the right to privacy,
the right to remain silent, the right to be presumed innocent, the right to freedom of
association, the right to retain and instruct counsel without delay, the right to equality before
the law, the right to be represented by a member of Parliament, the right to self defence, and the
right to not incriminate oneself.
This law was found ILLEGAL by an Ontario Appeals Court challenge by a 3-0 decision when it ruled
on the Firearms Act’s violation of the right to be secure against unreasonable search and seizure.
Yet you standby arms folded riding the fence unscathed.
No more, Mr.Calvert you are actively involved helping to ENFORCE and PROSECUTE this law and
guilty of causing tyranny in our province .You regard the law as inappropriate, however, you’re
going to enforce and prosecute it. Don’t feed me your political double speek.
Mr Calvert all of the remaining Firearms Act violations will be eventually challenged legally at
great personal costs to individual Canadians. Why can’t you see these human rights violations? Why
can’t you do something? Why can’t you help? Do you CARE, Mr. Calvert? According to your letter
you could care less about freedom, liberty and the Canadian way of life.
You and your federal tyrant counterpart in Ottawa have accompolished what Kaiser Wilhelm, Joe
Stalin, Chairman Mao, and Adolph Hitler never came close to achieving. You have sucessfully
removed the rights and freedoms from the Canadian people. Congratulations Mr. Calvert!!
The travesty of justice you are allowing to occur in Saskatchewan will go down in infamy.
Since you are so willing to meet your legal obligations with respect to enforcement and
prosecution of the Criminal Code (it really is criminal you know) my guess is you will need more
jails for your new “paper criminals” Remember these are the law-abiding citizens of your
province. The ones who work and pay your salary Mr. Public Servant and the salaries of the lower
bureaucrats running your regime. They vote too. You may have a hard time balancing the budget, a
hard time making government payroll and a very hard time being reelected.
If you are not interested in helping law-abiding citizens keep their rights and freedoms they must
find someone who will. I can not support your return to public office in the next general
election. You don’t deserve the job, sir.
I will do everything I can to see that you and your NDP cohorts are NOT reelected.
Yours in tyranny,
Joe Gingrich
