I could not help but raise a wry smile when I read the letters from Heinz P Heien and Bob Davis in the April issue. If they think they are hard done in their desire to own and carry guns, they should live in the UK.
As many readers my be aware of, following the knee jerk reactions of our trendy politicians to the admittedly aweful killings in Dunblane in 1996, not only is it illegal to own or use a handgun here in the UK, but there is a strong possibility that the ownership of rifles, shotguns, and air guns is also under threat. If our parlimentarians can outlaw hunting with dogs , they can outlaw anything!

**** NOW THE ONLY PERSONS HERE WHO SEEM TO BE ABLE TO OWN AND USE HANDGUNS WITH IMPUNITY ARE CRIMINALS AND TERRORISTS! ***** (emphasis mine)

Just think of this: it is now illegal for a UK citizen
(armed people are citizens; unarmed people are serfs)
to enjoy practice for and participate in Olymppics unless they do so entirely outside the UK.
We can own rifles and shotguns but under the most stringent of conditions.

AND IT SEEMS THAT THE POLICE, UNABLE TO CATCH THE CRIMINALS ARE ALL TO KEEN TO MAKE LAW ABIDING FIREARM OWNERS STICK STRICTLY TO THE LAWS LAID DOWN BY WEEK KNEED POLITICIANS WHO HAVE NO IDEA OF WHAT GOES ON IN THE REAL WORLD. (emphasis mine)

At least hte US president owns and uses guns; I doubt that our Prime Minister would even know how to load one, much less hold one and fire one!
