A Tarrant prosecutor hopes tough sentencing will deter juvenile gun crimes Around the courthouse, they call her the “gun girl.” It’s a relatively new nickname, one she doesn’t mind much and one that probably won’t stick with her forever. But for now, at least, the name is fitting for prosecutor Tiffany Burks. With the help of a three-year, $120,000 grant from the Justice Department, Burks was recently assigned to prosecute only cases involving youths accused of gun crimes in Tarrant County. It’s an issue she feels strongly about, a job she embraces. “The only kind of case I’m allowed to prosecute involves guns,” Burks said. “So I am ‘gun girl’ — ‘juvenile
