Off-duty officer thwarts robbery suspect
An off-duty Boston police officer caught a bank robbery suspect in
Westwood after he saw a man running from a bank and a dye pack
exploded in a bag of money, authorities said yesterday. Officer Jason
Gilmore was driving by the Roche Bros. Supermarket on Washington
Street on Monday and saw a man scuffling with an employee in the
parking lot. … Outside, while the man and the employee were
tussling, Gilmore saw the bag explode, sending dye-streaked cash into
the air. He chased after the man on foot, catching upwith the
suspect, William L. Hunt, 49, who was arrested by Westwood police. No
gun was found, Boston police said.
