Dear Editor,

Evie Hudak takes Congressman Tancredo to task for accepting
contributions from the Safari Club and the NRA. I would be
willing to bet however that if he had accepted contributions from
CCAGV, or SAFE, or HCI she would be praising him for his
stand against “gun violence”. I am more concerned about the
people who express this arrogant, hypocritical nonsense, than
I am about the Congressman.

Ms. Hudak pours out the words “school shooting”, “the Children”,
“Columbine”, “the families”, and “the survivors”. I do not believe
that most people who “think” and who “reason”, are falling for
these much over used terms, aimed only at garnering an emotional
response.

Another over used nonsensical term is “gun violence”. There is no
such thing as “gun violence”. The gun is simply one of many tools
used by the perpetrators of violence. Responsible citizens are all
in favor of stopping violence. Demonizing guns is certainly not the
the answer, especially when you consider that firearms are used
an est. 2.5 million times each year, in the U.S., to prevent violence
and other criminal acts.

Perhaps Ms. Hudak would like to consider changing the name of
her organization to the Colorado Coalition Against Crime & Violence.
In that case I would be pleased to join them and teach their members
how to use firearms to prevent crime and violence.

“Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any
government,no
matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and
bear
arms…. The right of citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee
against
arbitrary government, one more safeguard against the tyranny which now
appears remote in America but which historically has proven to be always

possible.”
- Senator Hubert H. Humphrey – 1911/1978

The figure 2.5 million is from the research of Dr. John Lott
who wrote, More Guns Less Crime.
