A man trying to elude police was involved in a car chase on Telegraph Rd. and 1-96 that ended with an accident. The police may not have been able to react so quickly, had it not been for the help of one woman that the suspect practically goaded into calling the authorities.

The whole event started with a stolen vehicle inside the city of Detroit. At around 8 a.m. Thursday morning, the wife of the man who runs the Salvation Army Community Center saw a man lurking around the bushes and dumping what appeared to be personal items. What the woman didn’t know, was that the items the man was dumping were the contents of the Jeep that man had just allegedly stolen.

The suspect’s suspicious behavior lead to the woman calling the police, which capitulated into the crash in Farmington Hills, where police finally caught up with the stolen Jeep and managed to pull the perpetrator over.

There was another car involved with the accident as well, but there were no serious injuries reported.

Karen Guerresso, who works at the Salvation Army Community Center, told press the events that lead to the police being called. “He actually made the lady here very angry. Not only did he dump his items off in the parking lot, he relieved himself in the parking lot. And as my boss’s wife chased him through the parking lot, he gave her a finger gesture which really irritated her. That’s why she was so insistent upon calling the police this morning, not knowing it was a stolen car.”

The woman made a good call. Three police departments got involved in the capture of the man, and he is now in police custody.
