Woman dead after being beaten in her own home

A Taft man is facing murder charges after being accused in a savage attack on a man and a woman.

Sheriff?s deputies responded to a home in the 800 block of Pierce Street just after 2 a.m. Monday morning, after a woman reported finding two people who had been badly beaten.

One of the victims Kay Lyn Charles, 35, died at the scene.

A 48-year-old man survived and was taken to Kern medical Center.

Detectives arrested John Wilson Gibson, who lives in a trailer behind the home.

Police said it appeared he got into an argument with the female victim and returned later with a metal bar and began beating them.
