MOST MEDIA IGNORED GUN REGISTRY WARNINGS
——————————————————————————–
In his letter, Canadian media lap-dogs of Liberals, Joseph Molnar points out that
the media should share some of the blame for not exposing the corruption and waste
in Ottawa.
There is no better example of this than the gun registry, now at the $2-billion
mark according to the CBC.
From day one, firearm owners predicted the cost would soar through the stratosphere,
criminals would not comply, we would not be safer, and only hunters and target shooters
would be subjected to the invasive, draconian law known as the Firearms Act.
Only a few noted journalists listened at the time. The rest were too busy referring
to two firearms as an “arsenal,” firearm owners as the “gun lobby”
and anti-gunners as “activists.” They wrote about “semi-automatic
revolvers,” which simply do not exist.
Some even portrayed firearm owners as baseball-capped, plaid-jacketed rednecks who
think a trip to WalMart is a cultural experience.
Only a scant few journalists whose articles I have read have pointed out that the
Firearms Act violates as many as 12 articles in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Let the auditor general speak out on a particular scandal and the media immediately
jump on the bandwagon.
The media should also listen when citizens cry out for help.
