Thurston County man dies from gunshot wounds

A 49-year-old man shot outside of Rainier has died from his wounds, the
sheriff’s office reported.

Scott J. Keith, of 15018 McIntosh Lane S.E., was pronounced dead about
6:40 this morning at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Thurston
County sheriff’s Capt. Dan Kimball said.

The shooting was reported at 9:37 p.m on Thursday. It happened on the
shooter’s property at 15117 McIntosh Lane S.E. The shooter has not been
arrested and investigators think the gunshots from a .357 revolver were
in self-defense. The victim had a footlong knife strapped to his back
and was carrying a baseball bat when he approached the shooter, Kimball
said.
