Now they want to confiscate registered handguns in Canada. Of course
DC did the same thing back in the 70′s.
“Mr. Rodgers said the announcement breaks a promise that the
government would not confiscate guns [HAHAHAHA! No, the government
never lies - PVC]. ‘How far away do you think it is then from
(confiscation of) shotguns and rifles?’ he said.”

N.S. gun owners target Martin’s call for pistol ban
YARMOUTH – The proposed handgun ban that Prime Minister Paul Martin
announced Thursday is shallow and senseless, Nova Scotia gun owners
say.
Licensed handgun owners and gunsmiths quickly pointed out that
handguns were already banned from Canadian streets unless carried by
law enforcement or security personnel.
“I don’t think it’s anything to get too worked up about,” said one
Halifax gunsmith, who didn’t want his name used. “I have three
registered handguns. They know where they’re at and they can
confiscate them at any time. I’m a shooting competitor.
“But because there’s been a lot of shootings in Toronto (with) guns
smuggled in by drug dealers, they’re making political hay.
“I suspect the Liberals are very desperate for votes.”
Another Nova Scotia gun dealer, who also didn’t want his name used,
said the prime minister’s announcement was troubling.
“They’re just looking for votes,” he said of the Martin Liberals.
“Give it some time and there’ll be quite an uproar, I imagine.”
Both gun dealers said they were worried the federal government would
hassle them if they spoke out publicly.
“One strong signal comes from this,” said Tony Rodgers of the Nova
Scotia Association of Anglers and Hunters. “They’re not done with us
yet. The Liberals are not done with the firearms community.
“They cannot find a solution to the socio-economic problems that
affect this country, especially in some of the inner cities. And this
is what they’re trying to deal with in Toronto.
“So what are they going to do? They’re going to stick it to the guys
that they can physically see.”
Mr. Rodgers said the announcement breaks a promise that the
government would not confiscate guns.
“How far away do you think it is then from (confiscation of) shotguns
and rifles?” he said.
“Handguns are going to keep flowing in there (Toronto) in the same
way they have been flowing in there, through underground markets and
across border openings.”
Mr. Rodgers said his association will question each political
candidate in Nova Scotia after Christmas about his or her stand on
the firearms registry and gun issues.
