GUN CONTROL NOT WORKING

————————————————————————
——–

Stronger gun controls have sharply reduced deaths claims the president
of the Coalition for Gun Control. But by her own statistics Mrs. Cukier
proves herself wrong. She points out that the long-gun registry caused
the huge drop in murders from 1,444 in 1991 to 1,125 in 1995 and to 792
in 2003. The legislation was not finalized until 1995 and wasn’t fully
implemented until 2002. If the registry caused that large drop before it
was in place, why is statscan reporting the murder rate rising now that
it is fully implemented? I think that billion dollars would have saved
far more lives if it had gone to women’s shelters.
