Will SOMEBODY, PLEEEEEAAASSSSEEE, tell me when was the last time banning ANYTHING worked?!?!?!?!? Was it US Alcohol prohibition? Is it the ban on all these illegal substances (ie: cocaine, marijuana,etc, etc,etc)? Which gunfree country has gun ban worked in? Australia? England? South Africa? Where has gun ban ever gotten rid of violent crime????

Fact is , people, that bans have NEVER worked , nor will they EVER work, PERIOD! Criminals who are determined to carry out violent crime are NOT deterred by bans of ANY kind! If something is wanted BAD enough by someone, it is usually gotten ….. regardless of laws – no matter how strict!

It might surprise Roci Freeman (Ban All Firearms — letter, Oct. 5) to
learn that several countries currently have complete bans on firearms.
Perhaps the writer would like to move to one of these enlightened states
so here are a few to choose from: the People’s Republic of China, Cuba,
North Korea. The writer seems to think the government knows best what
rights and possessions I should have. I prefer to think that choice
should be mine. The measure of a civilized country is not what the
government decides you can or can’t have. It’s the degree to which the
government trusts its citizens (armed or not).

The Second Amendment IS Homeland Security !
