Other ways to kill

————————————————————————

Statistics Canada reports that of the 622 homicides in 2004, 172 were by
firearm.

So, can we expect The Province will give equal time to the other
gruesome ways that people kill each other?

One would think by your reporting that only those killed or injured by a
firearm are worth talking about.

If you are merely beaten, stabbed, strangled or burned to death, then it
seems barely newsworthy.

I guess some of the dead are more equal than others?

Of the 172 killed, less than four per cent were by way of legally
registered firearms, of which there are at least two million.

Going by these figures, the safest place you can be is a gun range,
something insurers understand.
