A Nipawin-area marijuana grow-op was shut down this week by RCMP, who
seized several plants, guns and vehicles.
The RCMP executed a search warrant at a rural home on Cheery Ridge Road
in the Garrick region on Tuesday afternoon. A news release from the RCMP
said “several” plants were seized as were six firearms — rifles and
shotguns — including one that was loaded. None of the firearms were
registered.
As well, a stolen Dodge pickup truck was located, along with several
other vehicles that “remain subject to further investigation.” The truck
was reported stolen from the Big River area.
A 41-year-old Nipawin man and a 50-year-old man from the Garrick
district west of Nipawin were arrested and charged with production of
marijuana. Further charges may be laid as the investigation continues,
according to the news release.
Both men will appear in Nipawin court on March 31.
