Anti-gun supporters put other people in jeopardy

Re: Armed citizens. Letter writer Linton was correct. Citizens are on
the scene before the police.

Despite what anti-gun-rights people think or say, it’s you or I who get
the first meeting with goblins of all sorts. Police can only respond
after the fact. That isn’t a criticism of the police, just a fact.

To say that it’s best that citizens be left to the gentle mercy of
criminals is un-Canadian. It also makes Section 7 of the Charter an
illusionary right — mostly because it says you have the right to
“security of person” if a criminal deems it.

How citizens exercise their Charter rights should be based on
qualifications, not wardrobe. I have no problem with people who choose
to put their safety and the safety of their families in the hands of
criminals; it’s their choice. However, they don’t have the right to
choose for me and my family.
