When we were young, some of the threats we faced were floods, fires, tornadoes and nuclear holocaust. We were trained by parents and teachers in the appropriate response. Unfortunately, today’s children face these threats and more. Women and children may now face crazed gunmen and terrorists while at school, home, play or their place of worship.

Guns are a reality in today’s society. We cannot and should not rely on legislation and public programs to keep our children safe. We are fooling ourselves and shirking our responsibilities as mothers if we do. We must protect our children and our future by providing as secure a childhood as possible. To do this, we ourselves must first learn and then teach. Mothers Arms advocates that women educate themselves on self protection, and then teach their children just as they taught them to walk, to swim, not to touch a hot stove, and not to run into the street.

Mothers Arms (MA) is a new organization dedicated to helping keep women and children safe by mobilizing women through education and training. Mothers must learn to protect themselves and their children through the use of safety rescue tools, knowing their rights about self defense, and self protection preparation and disaster planning. Mothers Arms will be a resource for research, personal safety education, and training conducted in both public and private settings. Resources are currently being identified and researched in every state. Please contact Mothers Arms if you offer a service or product related to our mission.
