A Retired Deputy Sheriff Remembers
By
Daniel Cron

I am the father of a California Corrections Officer and the
father of a Deputy Sheriff. I am also the father-in-law of a
Deputy Sheriff and the ex brother-in-law of a retired big
city policeman. I retired in March of 1998 after 30 years as
a law enforcement officer, deputy sheriff. I have always
enjoyed shooting PPC and gun collecting. Of course, the
reason was to always be ready to hit the x-ring if my life
was on the line on or off duty. I am worried for the law
enforcement officers of California and the rest of this
country. Our leftist California State government has
recently passed the most ridiculous gun laws that are
causing considerable friction between citizens and the
police. I’m referring to the ‘jewelry’ gun laws that outlaw
certain semi-automatic weapons because they have accessories
such as thumbholes or pistol grips and to the ‘junk gun’ ban
which outlaws Glocks, H&K’s, S&W, Colt, Beretta, etc.
firearms from being sold due to their size or lack of an
external safety. Even good, upstanding citizens are now
heard to make comments like, “I’ll kill the first s.o.b.
that comes to get my guns.” How do you think that makes me
feel about the safety of my Deputy Sheriff daughter?
