Implementation of the Model Regulations for the Control of the
International Movement of Firearms, Their Parts and Components,
and
Ammunition
Washington – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF),
has
issued a Treasury decision governing the importation of
firearms, ammunition, and implements of war. The changes
implement
the “Model Regulations for the Control of the International
Movement of Firearms, Their Parts and Components, and
Ammunition”
which President Clinton directed the Secretaries of State,
Commerce, and Treasury to implement after the second Summit of
the
Americas, in Santiago, Chile. The purpose of the Model
Regulations is to provide standardized procedures for the
international movement of firearms, their parts and components,
and
ammunition so as to prevent illegal trafficking in these
articles.
The new regulations will go into effect on June 20, 2000.
For additional information, refer to the June 20, 2000 issue of

<< And Clinton was the one proposing this at the Chile
meeting..Is
Congress voting on this?? No..it’s an ISSUED Treasury decision.
Done deal. One might think that since this deals with the
importation
of firearms parts from foreign countries..that this is OK..but
it also seems to affect the REimportation of US made Garand
parts as
well. What the??? I think we have just witnessed one (another)
of many to come circumventions of our system of government. —
