Weapon of choice

——————————————————————————–

As I was driving home on Sunday after an early celebration of Ukrainian Christmas, I heard an announcement on the radio about the first murder in Edmonton in 2004. As usual, the victim was not shot, but stabbed. This seems to be the weapon of choice in Alberta.

It occurred to me that what Canada needs is a knife registry. It could be handled in the same efficient and economical manner as the gun registry. Now that the gun registry is running so smoothly, our government needs to address the criminal use of knives.

Alberta could initiate such a program. After all, the Klein government has always been on the “cutting edge” of progress.
