TRURO – A murder charge will be laid against a 33-year-old Colchester
County man after a shooting victim died in hospital Wednesday.

Dwayne Paris, 42, was shot in a Truro motel room early on Dec. 29.

The suspect, from Lower Harmony, was being held on an alleged parole
violation. He is to be arraigned next week.

Mr. Paris never regained consciousness after he was shot in the stomach,
Truro police said.

Mr. Paris was originally from Truro but had returned to the area from
Ontario to visit family at Christmas.

The accused will also be charged with breaking a ban on possessing
firearms. He is being held at the Springhill Institution.
