Cuomo’s CLUMSY Guard

- – Cuomo’s Clumsy Guard – -

Housing Secretary Andrew M. Cuomo was last heard from ranting about the
availability of guns, specifically guns in and around federal housing
complexes.

As it turns out Cuomo has a gun problem that is a lot closer to home. His
chief bodyguard, Clarence Day, a 68-year-old retired D.C. Metropolitan Police
officer has repeatedly left his .38-caliber revolver lying around in public.

In one case in February, the loaded pistol was left in the cafeteria of the
Department of Housing and Urban Development. Day later tried to squash a
formal incident report on the matter.

Another time the gun was left in a car and found by federal motor pool
employees.

Now even if Mr. Day was scrupulous in his handling of his firearm, Cuomo still
looks like a jerk. He gets an armed bodyguard to follow him around while the
rest of us have to defend ourselves, with sticks and stones if Cuomo had his
druthers.

How about this deal: Cuomo can again lecture the nation on firearm safety when
all the firearms under his command are safely accounted for. Even though it is
HUD and not the Pentagon, that day may be long in coming.
