A highly controversial option has emerged for use in fighting terrorism in the United States: A national ID card which would be issued to every citizen.

A proposal for the creation of a national ID card was presented to President Bush in recent days, top government sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

The ID card plan was included in a classified briefing outlining steps the nation can take to limit exposure to terror attacks.

Bush briefly discussed the ID card option with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, according to insiders.

Our personal freedom should not be sacrificed on the altar of “fighting terrorism”, however
terrorism is defined.

The U.S. Gov’t doesn’t even have the political will to control its border with Mexico, over which hundreds of thousands of mestizos come illegally every year. Issuing I.D. cards with photographs and fingerprints to over 100,000,000 adults will make not make this country any safer for ordinary people. It will just make ordinary people easier to keep tabs on. Once a national I.D. card is part of our social fabric, it can be used to track where you go and when, what you buy, etc.

Some in government would sacrifice our Second Amendment rights on the altar of fighting crime knowing all too well that violent crime is not a gun problem, but a race problem. Likewise, bringing to justice the people responsible for the events of September 11, 2001 should not become a pretext for trashing the Bill of Rights.
