FIRST LAW OF NATURE
To all honorable citizens of this nation,
As a former law enforcement officer of many years, I submit the following statement.
Contrary to the unrelenting, nonsensical anti-gun propaganda, government has no Constitutional authority, in any degree or manner, to infringe upon our inalienable Second Amendment rights of self-protection. The Constitution was conceived for the purpose of defining the legitimate authority and limitations of federal government, states and the people (individuals). Ingeniously, the Constitution lawfully restricts federal interference within our lives and forbids legislative, police and military assaults upon the American people (again, individuals). Whether or not the majority of citizens (misinformed) believe in the right of the people to keep and bear arms is irrelevant to the application of “Constitutional Law”. Intentionally disregarding degrees of social and political popularity, the Constitution equally protects the liberties of every individual.
Should we compromise on the First Amendment, freedom of speech and religion? Perhaps we can negotiate a deal with Congress. We could adjust our speech or desist religious practices if fifty, sixty or seventy percent of the public becomes offended by our expressions of faith or social discourse. Better yet, let’s cut-a-deal on our Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination. For the emotional welfare of society we, as good citizens, should not resent sacrificing our lives by incriminating ourselves just a little bit if it will further pacify the politicians, media and socialists of this nation. How foolish we are to entertain such thoughts of compromising our Second Amendment rights. NO! OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE!!!
Our inalienable rights are not the fanciful manifestations of delusional anarchists, requiring governmental approval or consultation. They are the fundamental, practical and inspiring liberties of social behavior which government cannot justifiably give nor take away. The Second Amendment is the force behind (foundation of) our “Bill of Rights”. Without its potency and stability, we WILL loose all of our liberties. Freedom of expression is the temple of life. Indifference and complacency are the affirmations of damnation.
Irrespective of these truths, we sheepishly fail to challenge government when it invades the constitutionally defined domain of the people. Rather than appropriately and aggressively moving forward, abolishing incapacitating gun control laws which unnecessarily place us all in life threatening situations, we instead become emasculated, ineffectually defending the feeble remains of our Second Amendment guarantees. Regardless of the fact that we are law-abiding citizens, we nonetheless remain fearful and cringe when confronted with the incessant hysterical babbling of anti-gun fanatics, unethical self-serving politicians and others of nefarious, cowardly and socialistic temperaments.
Why do we permit this to occur? Gun abolishment advocates represent immaturity of character. They believe themselves incapable of self-defense and depend upon government to provide their every need, typifying a malignancy eating away at a once robust social body. We must not view these misinformed and manipulative factions as suitable examples of an enlightened culture.
Their actions contributing to the same result, government, along with many politicians and street-wise criminals must all be held accountable for the thousands of innocent lives that are lost to felonious assaults each year. Bureaucrats defiantly and unconstitutionally refuse to permit all law-abiding citizens from exercising the “First Law of Nature” (self-defense). Covertly, government is aiding and abetting the most sadistic malcontents of humanity, the psychopaths and violent criminals within this nation. Politicians are incrementally, unscrupulously and methodically embezzling our natural, inalienable rights of self-protection. Get angry, people! GET DAMN ANGRY!!! Indeed, we have cause to be justifiably outraged.
In 1856, the U. S. Supreme Court ruled that local law enforcement had no duty to protect individuals but only a general duty to enforce the laws. South v. Maryland, 59 US (HOW) 396, 15 L. Ed. 433 (1856). A U. S. Federal Appeals Court declared in 1982, “There is no constitutional right to be protected by the state against being murdered by criminals or madmen.” Bowers v, DeVito, US Court of Appeals, 7th Circuit 686 F. 2d 616 (1982).
Also obvious, is that law enforcement is unable to protect the lives of individuals as they usually provide an after-the-incident response. Although willing, police are seldom in position to prevent such assaults. And, few citizens can financially afford the security of armed body guards. Individuals are obliged to protect the lives of family and self. Think about it folks! No one else, including government, is responsible for your security. We can either conform to our natural instincts for survival or succumb to the criminals of this nation and an impertinent, violent (i.e. Waco and Ruby Ridge) and tyrannical government. If the former is chosen, we had better move with decisiveness, firmness and rapidity. Each day, along with the Second Amendment, all of our human rights are further eroded. Without detour, we are quickly approaching the proverbial “point of no return”.
Authority is inherent within the people. Not the government. With conditions, we the people lend our control to government and it is our duty to reclaim leadership when it is abused. Government, along with our politicians have displayed on numerous occasions, acts of indifference, corruption and incompetence, requiring constant vigilance and control by the citizens of this nation. To this day, nothing has changed. We need citizen control over our audacious and depraved government. Not legislative restrictions on lifesaving (predominantly) firearms.
Guns must be available to all law-abiding citizens, both men and women. Whether the armed individual is a concerned parent, teacher, cleric, urbanite, suburbanite, Afro-American, Caucasian, Asian, Hispanic, feminist, homosexual, heterosexual, pro-choice, pro-life, Jew, Protestant, Islamic, Catholic, Pagan, Atheist, Republican, Libertarian or Democrat is inconsequential. With the support of “Constitution Law”, we all have the right and obligation to defend our lives and liberties.
Absence of the appropriate temperament and dependable tools for self-defense, assures that we are equally vulnerable to personal assault. On the street or in the home, synagogue, church, temple, mosque, school, restaurant, office or any other meetinghouse, self-preservation remains a fundamental need. Undeniably present, is the “FIRST LAW OF NATURE” which cannot be ignored or legislated out of existence. It’s your body! It is also your responsibility to make the most intense decision that an individual can face. You must either fight or unnaturally surrender your life to an unyielding assailant. Brutality and violence respect no boundaries. Neither should defense of self and gun ownership.
It is time that we take the offensive stance and DEMAND from our representatives that they abolish federal gun laws, further encouraging the carrying of concealed weapons of personal choice. It is not only our inalienable, constitutional right to do so but the most logical (unemotional) solution to the magnitude of violence now being perpetrated within the home, work place and on our streets.
Throughout my career in law enforcement, I witnessed numerous victims of violent crime. Without question, many would have been spared their lives or unwarranted suffering had they been adequately armed. The number of casualties resulting from the past several shooting incidents would not have been as high, had the victims, many now deceased, been encouraged to carry concealed weapons. How many local police stations, all well armed, are assaulted by disgruntled employees or psychotics off the street? Few! Criminals will never be disarmed regardless of the abundance of feel-good laws enacted. Only an imbecile or deceitful, self-serving politician would profess otherwise. The shootings within our nation, Waco and Ruby Ridge included, certify my argument that law-abiding citizens must be armed to effectively counter deadly criminal and governmental (unconstitutional) assaults.
According to the polls conducted by Gallup and The Los Angeles Times, guns are used in self-defense over two million times a year. In most cases, the mainstream media, in partisanship with gun control advocates, arrogantly refuses to draw attention to the frequent incidents where guns have saved innocent lives. Their distortion or elimination of the facts must be aggressively countered. Public awareness programs are imperative and must be intensified tenfold. Men and women must be acquainted to the readily available facts and further encouraged, on the national level, to participate in reliable defensive training courses and gun safety classes. For the accomplishment of this necessary goal, a few potentials exist. Upon regaining their courage, the NRA is well able, through additional support from other pro-gun organizations and gun manufacturers, to purchase both space in the major newspapers and time on national television. Weekly compiled summarized incident reports demonstrating that guns do in fact save lives can be published in the newspapers and dramatized for television. Productions such as “America’s Most Wanted” and “Cops” come to mind for their powerful dramatization effects which do indeed magnify public attentiveness and acceptance of harsh realities. Citizen and government ignorance of “Constitutional Law” is the primary impediment to our freedoms. The public must also be educated in this area whenever possible.
As opposed to the prevailing desire for emotional, feel-good solutions which place the people in considerable jeopardy, Americans along with their employers must face reality and logically accept the necessity for gun ownership in response to random and selective felonious assaults. Politicians, being advised of their inevitable removal from office for failure, must be compelled to terminate unconstitutional gun control legislation and further proclaim the week including Labor Day as National, “TAKE YOUR GUN TO WORK WEEK”
