In the battle against the anti-gun lobbyists, we must not forget that women are not only using guns for self-defence (well, they are not in New Zealand, anyway – it’s against the law!) but many of us are involved in shooting sports. As an avid clay target shooter, I am now very involved in the fight against impending gun control legislation in N.Z. Should our government enact the changes they propose, my sport will cease to exist. We have people in government now who have an avowed intention to remove all firearms from private ownership – a very scary & sad situation.
We need to change to attitude to guns and get people to see them for what they are: inamimate tools which can be used safely for self defence and sport.
