HAVE YOU EVER BEEN AFRAID ?
Jo Ann Nolan

Have you ever been awakened by a noise at night and you were afraid? Have you ever thought that someone could be following you and you were afraid? You have the power to change these feelings. All it takes is a little education and some practice and you can feel secure and confident.
A short time ago, I was afraid too. I got mad at myself because I didn't know how to defend myself. I was afraid to go anywhere, especially after dark. I decided to do something about it, I was tired of living my life being afraid.
I attened the NRA's "Refuse to be a Victim" seminar which contained some very helpful tips. Most of the information offered in the seminar had never crossed my mind before. The seminar brought to my attention things that I needed to be aware of in my life in order to stay safe. Then I decided to get more serious and really take control of my life . I signed up for a firearms safety training class. The class allowed you to really get familiar with firearms. We learned how to disassemble and clean you firearm, safe firearm handling, and how to defend yourself. The finale of the class was a trip to the range. Some of the ladies were nervous, but before the evening was over we all left there confident that we had made a giant step in improving our lives. This was a new found freedom that was well worth the price of the class.
I enjoy attending gunshows. I can learn about the different types of firearms. It's a great place to examine them up close, find accessories, and select the firearm that will fit you best. It is also a good place to find information about a range that might be in your area. But best of all, it is nice to be in the company of people that share the same interest that you do.
I also enjoy going to the range. There will always be someone there willing to help you. It is fun and you always walk away with a great feeling of accomplishment and a little more self-confidence than you had before.
I don't hear the noises in the night anymore and become afraid. I don't worry about thoughts of someone following me. I am aware of my surroundings and I am prepared. At any point in time, I can be ready to defend myself. All I did was educate myself and spend a little time practicing. It has changed my life and it can change yours too.
