GUN CONTROL KILLS INNOCENT PEOPLE
Gun Control advocates , their blood is on your hands!
==============
The following are excerpts from news stories about the Merced slayings of
two innocent children. I was trying to document the father’s remarks, on a
local radio station, about how he had locked away his gun because of
California’s stupid laws. I have not found a direct quote from the father
yet, but in one story the children’s great uncle who is also the family’s
pastor and has been acting as the family spokesman, said basically the same
thing. His statement is in one of the excerpts below. Several other points
germane to the Guns Save Lives issue are addressed in these excerpts. I
urge all to read these articles, they will renew your dedication to the
cause, I guarantee it. I also challenge all, including the toughest dude on
the list to finish them without the aid of a handkerchief. I have made some
observations, they will be in {}. The [] will designate different excerpts
from the same story. The links at the immediate top of each excerpt will
take you to that full story. The links below my sig line are to other
stories about this incident. These are all from the Fresno Bee and the
Modesto Bee, the closest papers that have web sites.

Gun advocates say fear of liability keeps parents from teaching survival
skills.
MERCED — The first thing Jessica Carpenter asked for was a gun.
On Friday, the children’s great-uncle, the Rev. John Hilton, said: “If only
Jessica had a gun available to her, she could have stopped the whole thing.
If she had been properly armed, she could have stopped him in his tracks.”
Maybe John William and Ashley would still be alive, he said.
Their father, John Carpenter, kept a gun in the home. His children had
learned how to fire it. But he kept it locked away and hidden from his
children.
“He’s more afraid of the law than of somebody coming in for his family,”
Hilton said. “He’s scared to death of leaving the gun where the kids could
get it because he’s afraid of the law. He’s scared to teach his children to
defend themselves.”
Hilton said Carpenter feared overregulation as well as laws that make gun
owners criminally and civilly liable if their children or others are
injured.

MERCED — The pounding on the door at Juan Fuentes’ house shattered the
tranquillity of rural Vassar Avenue.
Jessica Lynn Carpenter, 14, Vanessa Trinity Carpenter, 11, and Anna Marie
Carpenter, 13, had just sprinted 300 yards to Fuentes’ home after escaping
from their house, where an intruder had attacked them with a pitchfork.
“When I opened the door, they asked me if I had a gun or a rifle,”
Fuentes said. “They wanted somebody to go over there and take care of this
guy. I told them, ‘I have a rifle, but I want to use that protection in my
house.’ “
{ Do you believe this guy? Anna was bleeding from at least a dozen stab
wounds. It’s not like he didn’t have obvious evidence of the gravity of the
girls’ plight! If he had acted immediately he may have been able to save
one or both of the children. In a TV interview he said he didn’t act
because he was “afraid”. This “man” is a despicable coward. I put man in
quotes because in my culture a man has a responsibility to take care of
women and children.}

[ "I got in front of Vanessa and put my hands in front of my chest area
and the pitchfork," said Anna. She was then stabbed multiple times.]
[They finally found help at Juan Fuentes' house, where Anna asked for a gun
or rifle.
"I said, my brother and sister are gonna get killed," Anna said. "I
wanted a gun to scare him away from the property."
Juan Fuentes refused and instead the girls called authorities from his
house.]
[Deputies called John Carpenter. Tephanie Carpenter was unaware anything was
wrong until she pulled up to Vassar Avenue.
"I had no idea," she said. "I saw yellow tape. I got out (of the van),
and one officer came. He said there was a man in my house and he didn't know
if my kids were alive." ]
{ This raises questions in my mind if the police had even gone in yet at
this time. This and the length of the 911 call (over 30 minutes) make me
wonder if the deputies, who reportedly arrived in 10 minutes, may have also
hesitated.}

911 Transcript
{Note that in the very first line of the transcript the operator calls
Jessica “ma’am” which means we are not getting the transcript from the very
first, because the operator had to have at least herd Jessica’s voice to
assume she was female. This is only a very short excerpt from a call that
was over half an hour long.}

On Wednesday morning, when life for the Carpenters was still normal, little
John William climbed into his mother’s bed as he did almost every morning,
and began to play with her hair. He left several knots in it, John Carpenter
said.
“He loved to feel her hair,” he said.
Reluctantly, Tephanie Carpenter finally combed the knots out of her hair
on Thursday night.

The three girls ran about 300 yards to a neighbor’s home, where they asked
Juan Fuentes if he had a gun and could “go over there and take care of this
guy,” Fuentes said. When he hesitated, the girls called 911.

Bruce was 6 feet 2 inches and weighed 220 pounds. Ashley was a bit short
even for a 9-year-old, her father said. Yet, the little girl immediately
acted.
Her sisters “said Ashley just threw that book down and bolted off that bed
and took off after him,” Carpenter said. “She wrapped up both of his legs
and told them to run. She gave her life for them.”
{If only Fuentes had that kind of courage}
