Hmmm?
Some news items that caught our eye, just
because it makes us wonder if we’re losing our minds.

For the very few of you who still don’t think the media is biased, this is as good as it gets.
The San Francisco Examiner printed a “news” story yesterday on Clinton’s $280 million for gun enforcement. No big deal, other than it’s a commentary, not a news story. Not only is the Examiner biased, it is blatantly biased. You may have read the story in our GunNews Headline section, but here it is again in case you missed it.

Gun bans aren’t good enough for Washington D.C.
Washington D.C. filed a lawsuit yesterday against firearms manufacturers. You’ve got to be kidding? This is the same city that banned handgun ownership twenty-two years ago and requires all long guns to be disassembled to render them inoperable. D.C. went from about 27 murders per 100,000 when the law was implemented in 1977, to as high as 80 murders per 100,000. In case you’re wondering, no other city in America can claim a murder rate as high over that same period. A fact that is as ironic, as it is sad, in 1994 every firearms related homicide in D.C. was from a handgun with the exception of one. If anyone should be sued, it should be the politicians, the government, and everyone who had anything to do with making thousands of D.C. residents meet their maker prematurely for the misguided logic of making their city “safer” for its residents by banning their only means of self-defense.
But all is not lost. Georgia Congressman Bob Barr says he’ll have Congress block the lawsuit.
If anything humorous can be said about the whole sad situation in Washington, it’s a statement from its Mayor from an Associated Press report:
“This gun lawsuit will protect our citizens and our children from the
dangers of gun violence by demanding that gun manufacturers change their
practices and by financially punishing them for past negligence,” said Mayor
Anthony Williams
Get a clue Mayor, Washington D.C. doesn’t have any gun dealers. How can you change “practices” when no one is practicing the business in your city. You must prove that some illegal action has occurred within your jurisdiction. This case should be thrown out along with the rest of them.
The media is out of control
Just a week ago or so it was warm in the northeast. People were mowing lawns and playing golf in January. The hottest news item, no pun intended, on network television, cable, and print news was global warming. The doomsayers were claiming this was positive proof that the earth was warming. The northeast is now bathed in the coldest weather in years according to news accounts this day. Global warming reports have vanished. It must be safe to go outside again since the sky isn’t falling.
