Homeowner justified in shooting intruder Staff report
June 26, 2003

An
Indianapolis man was justified when he shot an intruder attempting to
break into his Geist home, Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi
announced today.
Juergen
Jungbauer will face no criminal charges for shooting Keenan Pinner, 35,
in the leg early Wednesday morning, Brizzi said.
“This
is a clear case of a homeowner repelling an attack,” Brizzi said. “The
citizens of this county are completely entitled to defend themselves,
even using deadly force, in situations like this.”
Jungbauer
heard someone banging on the doors and windows of his home shortly after
midnight, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
Jungbauer
shot the intruder after the man broke a window and was entering the home
in the 10000 block of Stormhaven Way, police said.
Pinner
was arrested on preliminary charges of burglary.
