Last night’s news
Here’s something that should make anyone angry, it made me that way:
Last night on the news there was the story of two young people who left a party after drinking and coiled a silver compact around a pole while speeding, killing one. This was followed by a black pickup truck with no front end remaining, from drinking and speeding. This was followed, no kidding, by a story about a speeding man who got lodged under a big truck and had to be pulled loose by another big truck. The jaws of life were used, and these idiots went to the hospital. After this barrage of alcahol assisted crap, due to the abuse of the substance, I saw one story about the assault weapon ban.
The woman who opposed it’s expiration spoke of her son who was killed during a cra jacking. As always, he was unarmed, she blamed the guns, and claimed that if they were banned he would still be alive today.
To top it off, as I drove to work this morning I counted a dozen billboards, those were just the ones I counted, and on nine of them I saw promotions for beer, Jack Daniels, Crown Royal and some other goodies.
Would a gun maker be allowed on a bulletin board promoting his new .357?? How bout a nice rifle with a composite stock?? I think NOT. Yet we hear people scream for a nonsense ban on guns, bemoan the death of the AWB and promote liquor on the highways, virtually hypnotizing people with the ads. The resulting piles of car accidents, speeding and abuse tallies higher than the gun incident count, yet no one wants to ban the sauce.
Maybe I’m no college educated award winning thinker or writer, but somehow I can’t help but see a major problem here. Oh, let’s not forget the sixth recent dog attack by rottweilers which went into someone’s home and attacked their kids. That was yesterday also. I’m not personally calling for bans on anything, just trying to figure out the math in these situations.
