Elephant kills woman in Florida

TAMPA, Fla. (Reuters) – An elephant killed one of its owners Wednesday at her home near Tampa, Fla., police said.
Kenya, an 18-year-old cow elephant, was tied up but broke loose and stomped Teresa Ramos, 52, to death, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Ramos and her family are circus performers and owned Kenya for 15 years. They kept the elephant at their home in Riverview.

Kenya was captured and was being watched by animal control officers.
