GUN CONTROL? HARDLY!
Re: Man planned to sell machine-guns: cops (Paul Turenne, July 5).
Last week Winnipeg police and RCMP seized three WWII-era Sten machine
guns from somebody not licensed to own them. These are prohibited
firearms. One has to wonder which one of our hundreds of gun control
laws was responsible for the information that led to their discovery.
Were they on the “highly effective” long gun registry? No. Were they on
the handgun registry? No. Was the person allegedly in possession of them
licensed? No. In fact, because he had prior firearms convictions, he
couldn’t legally possess firearms of any kind, so he wasn’t anywhere in
the so-called “gun control” system.
But then how did the police locate these guns despite the obvious
failure of these highly restrictive laws, supposedly designed to keep
machine guns out of the hands of criminals? The police got a tip from
somebody.
