Store Owner Fatally Shoots Suspected Robber

1:35 a.m. EDT October 11, 2002 – Detroit police are investigating a
fatal shooting at the Great Value Supermarket.
One of the owners of the store, at Schaefer and Chicago on Detroit’s
west side, reportedly returned from a stop at a bank around 12:45 p.m.
Outside of the store, two men assaulted her and tried to rob her.
Another owner of the store reportedly saw what was going on and came out
of the store with a gun. As the men tried to get away, one of the
suspects was fatally shot by the owner of the store, Local 4 has
learned.
Three people were taken into custody for questioning, but charges have
not been filed in the shooting, according to reports.
The woman was treated for minor injuries, according to reports.
