“MILLION MOM” MARCH – Got my free “action pack”
Yesterday I received my envelope with 50 brochures and an “action pack” from the nice ladies at MMM. It cost them $3.00 in postage to send it to me 1st class. From the material I received it’s obvious that this is not a bunch of suburban yentas who got together over coffee and decided “Hey, let’s march on DC”. This outfit has some serious money and PR expertise behind it.
For those of you who are planning to attend any counter-rallies, I would strongly suggest that you make your hotel reservations now (unless you are local or have friends you can stay with). This thing is going to kick off at 10:00 a.m. on Mother’s Day (05/14) at the Washington Mall and you want to be close to DC so you can be on the Mall by 9:45 a.m. Nobody is going to actually march anywhere, but just show up (hopefully with little ones in strollers), listen to speeches by people “who care”, and be filmed for the network news.
I went to school in D.C. and lived in the Md. suburbs and am familiar with the area. Here are some tips:
#1 Don’t plan on driving to this thing. D.C. is a Thirld World country where the cops really get off on towing illegally parked cars. Take the Metro.
#2 Get a hotel room in Fairfax or Arlington counties in VA or Montgomery County MD that is near a Metro station. They are more reasonably priced than ones in DC, and in safer areas. (Remember, DC is a Third World country.) Most Metro stations have parking lots so you don’t necessarily have to be within walking distance.
#3 The other side encourages people to show up with their kids. Try to do the same.
