A 41-year-old Wheatland man has been accused of blasting a Hickory
County house with a shotgun this morning where his wife was apparently
staying.
He is accused of injuring two men before he, too, was shot. No charges
have been filed in the case.
The upset husband – whom authorities found unconscious, lying face-
down with an upper-chest wound – was in critical condition this
afternoon at Cox South hospital in Springfield, Hickory County
dispatcher Holly Hackett said.
Two occupants of the house suffered “minor to moderate” injuries in the
2 a.m. shootout, authorities said. The two were treated and released.
The house is located west of the Galmey area on County Road 181.
It wasn’t clear this afternoon who shot the husband at least one time in
the chest with a .44-caliber black-powder pistol, Hackett said.
No charges have been filed against the man, Hackett said.
