Police Chief Cited in Gun Swap – (NEW ORLEANS) — New Orleans Police Chief
Richard Pennington says it would have been impossible to inspect each of the
nearly 78-hundred confiscated weapons his department traded for new police
handguns. Pennington is being investigated because some of the guns, which
were supposed to be scrapped, wound back up in Louisiana. Mayor Marc
Morial’s legal counsel informed Morial that the trade now makes New Orleans
vulnerable to being a defendant in its own lawsuit against gun
manufacturers.
