Repeat offenders

>>NEW YORK (AP) – The two suspects in the Wendy’s shootings are scheduled to make their first court appearance today. John Taylor and Craig Godineaux are expected to be arraigned on multiple counts of murder, robbery and weapons charges. Prosecutors say Taylor was a fugitive since last fall, when he failed to appear in court to face charges in a string of armed robberies at fast-food restaurants. Prosecutors say they had requested a bail of $100,000 for John “Benji” Taylor, but the judge released him last summer “on a ridiculously low bail,” said Sherry Hunter, a spokeswoman for the Queens district attorney.<<

See what I mean? He’s a repeat offender, fugitive, and in New York where they have the Sullivan Law. Why isn’t this guy scared of jail? Because he knows he has never had to stay there long in the past! He didn’t have a gun in those prior robberies? He wasn’t charged with it? One way or another he was turned loose afterwards and he got another gun. Wouldn’t it have kept those people alive to lock up a violent felon instead of griping about his gun?

Of course, the state of New York has thoughtfully made sure he’ll run across no armed citizens out there. If New Yorkers were allowed to carry and one of those victims had been armed, then maybe they’d have had a chance. As it is they had none….killed by the Sullivan Law and poor enforcement by the courts as far as I’m concerned.
