We wanted to respond to you concerning rumors regarding Bass Pro Shops position
on the sale of handguns. Our company’s official position, as we have publicly
stated, is that we are not getting out of the handgun business.

We are reducing our selection of handguns to emphasize handguns that have
traditionally been associated with hunting and target shooting. We also plan to
continue to offer a variety of muzzle loading or “black powder” handguns. The
exact assortment will be determined by our buyers when they return from the
industry trade show being held January 17 though 20 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As in the past, we will make decisions pertaining to the marketing of all types
of firearms and all merchandise categories on a store by store, market by market
basis.

We will continue to emphasize responsible gun safety, hunter education, and
strict compliance with all governmental regulations.
