I have a friend that is a certified master gunsmith, and is also a
Ruger dealer that has been in the business for almost 40 years, and
is the 3rd generation of gunsmiths in his family. His dad also sold
Ruger guns.
A few days ago, he had a fax come in from Ruger. The fax from Ruger
was defending their position over preventing some dealers in selling
at gunshows. Yes, they did admit they had done this to a “few” dealers!
Why did they say they did this? What was their excuse?
They claimed that the dealers they prevented in selling at gunshows,
were selling to the public at wholesale prices, and thus undercutting
other dealers, making it unfair for other dealers. This was their
reason in the fax why they stopped these dealers from selling at
gunshows.
My next question to my friend was simple. I asked, “In all of the
years you and your dad have been dealing in Ruger guns, have you ever
seen them, even remotely, concerned about their dealers waging price
wars?”
His response? “No. Not the first time.”
This should speak volumes, and show that Ruger simply got caught
with their hand in the cookie jar, and are now trying their best
to conceal their original intent, which was to stop dealers at
selling their products at gunshows, like was originally reported
by the news media as shown below my comments. Remember, one of
the demands from the Cities and Mayors that are suing the gun
manufacturers (including Ruger) is for them to STOP selling
their guns at gunshows.
BACK THE LAWSUIT!!! ITS YOUR FREEDOM, YOUR CHILDREN’S, AND THEIR
CHILDREN THAT IS AT STAKE!

Sturm, Ruger & Co., the largest gun manufacturer in the United
States, has instructed distributors not to sell its products at gun shows,
the Associated Press reported Jan. 16.
In what is believed to be the first policy of its kind, Sturm, Ruger &
Co. told distributors that its shotguns, rifles and handguns be supplied
only “to federally licensed firearms dealers selling exclusively from
their regular place of business.”
Federally licensed gun dealers are required to conduct background
checks on customers. “This is a new policy that no other manufacturer
has made. I think what they’re doing is remarkable,” said Tony
DiChario, a Sturm, Ruger distributor in Rochester, N.Y.
But Dave Anver, Colorado’s largest firearms dealer, opposes the
gunmaker’s policy. He questioned why those who pass background
checks should be treated differently at gun shows than at stores.
“I think it’s absolutely ludicrous,” said Anver, owner of Dave’s Guns
in Aurora, Colo. “We’re talking about federally licensed entities that
do background checks.”
Company officials would not comment on the new policy. Sturm,
Ruger is a defendant in lawsuits filed by 28 cities and counties
seeking to recover the costs associated with gun-related violence.
