Subject: Kmart restores gun and ammunition sales

Bob Needham pointed out press reports saying that Kmart has
restored it’s gun and ammunition sales as of Wednesday. I
called Kmart and confirmed this. The Kmart press release
says:

Kmart Corporation Media Statement Regarding Sale of Firearms
September 12, 2001

Kmart Corporation extends its deepest sympathy to people
affected by yesterday’s tragic events in New York and
Washington, D.C.

The safety of our customers and associates is our first
priority. As an added precaution during this national
crisis, Kmart temporarily removed firearms and ammunition
from its sales floor yesterday. Stores are being instructed
to return firearms and ammunition to the sales floor today.

“We did remove firearms and ammunition from our store shelves
yesterday, temporarily,” said Julie Fracker, a spokeswoman
for the Troy, Michigan-based retailer. “The items will be
back on store shelves today.”

As a general comment, I believe these attacks are a perfectly
valid and highly relevant talking point about how America
should ***not*** be disarming it’s citizens or restricting
their access to the means of defense through gun control.
I plan to make this point to those in the state and federal
legislatures and suggest you do also. I believe this will
even make some sense to the New World Order types who want a
U.N. world government. Even with a reduced military turned
over to U.N. control, as they seem to want, our nation should
keep access the means to the means of widespread defense,
namely private ownership of firearms. With attacks reaching
our own soil and launched from our own soil, that is even more
clear.
