This is a yung man I truely admire…. Some kids actually know what FREEDOM is all about…
This showed up on a Message Board on www.austin360.com on the topic of gun
control. The writer is a 14 year old young man from Texas, who now lives in
Southern California. I had followed his pro-gun posts with both interest
and admiration for the last week. I had come to know he is a young man whom
any of us would be extremely proud to have for a son. Until tonight, I did
not know how personal the fight was to him, or the greatness of his heart.
I am humbled…..

I have seen how the anti-gun people try to hurt people victimized by guns.
I lost someone close to me by gun violence – my mom when I was 10 years old.
The gun-haters were in my face and my dad’s face wanting us to say bad
things about guns. The sad thing is this, they wore my big brother out till
he killed himself cause he couldn’t handle the pressure. He was weak. But
you know what, when I think about the people who have lost their child to a
violent or careless person and the gun-haters offer them some kind of
sympathy, don’t you think if they are weak too that they might want to
follow them? If someone says, “come with us and we will make your loss mean
something” you want that if you are cloudy and can’t think straight because
you just buried your kid.
It is like MADD but not exactly. See, if someone gets hurt, they want to
stop hurting and if they think they can help someone else not hurt, then it
makes them forget how bad they hurt (believe me, you never forget the person
you lost no matter what). So it is like manipulation. When MADD
manipulates people, they don’t do it by trying to take away the tool of the
hurter – drinking, they try to take away the bad person and make them
responsible for who they killed. But gun-haters who are mostly people who
also don’t want
people to go to jail for bad stuff, try not to punish the bad guy but the
tool. Does this make sense what I am saying?
Please don’t say, “sorry for your loss” because it has been 5 years ago and
that isn’t why I tell the story. I tell it because someone else needs to
know that people are being tricked into saying that guns are bad because
their kids get shot and it hurts to loose someone you love and never see
them again. Money needs to be used to help victims go to court to make sure
the killer goes to jail or to build statues of their kids or whatever helps
them. And, yes, to educate. But think of it this way, If you are studying
history to be educated about say Hitler. You can’t learn not to be a bigot
by pretending Hitler never happened. You have to study him – he isn’t going
away. You can’t teach people about gun safety by taking guns away. You
can’t
learn to respect people by taking guns away. You have to study what is
there and make something good out of bad stuff.
