THREE POSITIVE STORIES IN THE MEDIA ABOUT SHOOTING SPORTS

The Ladies Trap Clinic at the Heber Valley Gun Club on August 7th got a
great write up in the Provo Herald. A BIG thanks to Wendy Mair who did much
of the work putting this together, and her helpers as well!

The Deseret News did a nice story on several Olympic type shooting events,
and really just a general pitch in favor of indoor target shooting, based on
interviews with Dave Larsen at Doug’s Shoot N” Sport.

The Weber Sentinel (September 4, 2004) had a nice piece on the Ogden Gun
Club’s – Scholastic Clay Target Program teams which competed in the Grand
American Trapshooting World Championships in Vandalia, Ohio. More than 1,040
children from all over the United States, ages 10-18, participated in the
competition which took place Aug. 12 and 13. The Ogden Gun Club sponsored 36
local participants, competing in five different divisions from Rookies to
Senior Experienced.
Rookies Team No.1 took first place in the national competition, with a
combined score of 966 x 1125, winning by just three targets. Team members
are Seth Hansen, Harrisville; T.C. Hudman, Hooper; Austin Sweet, Syracuse;
Chazz Bergland, North Ogden; and Garrett Geilman, Roy. Rookie team members
must be in 4th or 5th grade. ‘
Rookies Team No. 2 took fourth place, with a combined score of 795 x 1000.
Team members are Chandler Lloyd, West Valley; Colton Anderson, Brigham City;
Codee McFarland, West Haven; Stetson Steed, Syracuse; and Tyler Packer, Roy.

The Senior Novice team (9th – 12th grades) took fifth place, with a score of
931 x 1000. Team members are Keith Love, Morgan; Dillion Wallace, Layton;
Deyne Stocker, North Ogden; Jordan Tomsic, West Valley; and Todd Baxter,
Layton.
The Scholastic Clay Target Program teaches children gun safety,
responsibility, team work and leadership. Team members must maintain a “C”
grade point average at school in order to participate.
